Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street.

If water runs off your lawn easily, split your watering time into shorter periods to allow for better absorption.

Welcome to, an educational site dedicated to teaching youth about the importance of conserving water in and around the home.

To address these concerns, four underground water conservation districts in West Texas collaborated to develop an education outreach cooperative in 2007.  Three of those original districts currently form the Southern Ogallala Conservation & Outreach Program, or SOCOP.  Programs and learning activities are made available to school districts, civic organizations, public libraries, scouting troops, churches,  and youth groups.  Anyone interested in learning about groundwater resources or promoting water conservation is welcome to contact us!

Each water conservation district within the education cooperative sponsors an art contest for fourth and fifth grade students. Winning artwork is featured in a calendar published by each district and offered free to the public.
