The Southern Ogallala Conservation & Outreach Program (SOCOP) was created in 2007 as an educational cooperative serving four water districts in West Texas. Currently, three districts equally share the cost to employ an education and public relations coordinator to carry out the program’s mission - "Educating communities today to save water tomorrow!”

The education cooperative serves three counties and eight communities.  Spanning approximately 3,500 square miles, the region has a combined estimated enrollment of 8,150 students, which attend the eight different school districts located within the three counties.

Programs can be requested for groups of any size, age, or interest. SOCOP’s goal is to educate citizens of all ages on the importance of water conservation by providing engaging, interactive lessons or programs “free of charge” to the public.
